Top 5 Nude Beaches - Trip Advisor

Trip Advisor, known for posting hotel reviews, also has, surprise to
many, nude beach reviews in its Forums section. In July, Trip Advisor
listed what it considers to be the Top 5 Nude Beaches in the World and
the Top 5 Nude Events.

Those Top 5 Nude Beaches are:
1. Haulover - Miami Beach, FL
2. Wreck Beach - Vancouver, BC
3. Paradise Beach - Mykonos, Greece
4. Orient Beach - St Maarten
5. Black's Beach - San Diego

We are a mixed up society. While a mainstream web site names the Top 5
Nude Beaches, and the St Louis Post-Dispatch runs an article this
summer titled, Get Naked This Summer, the California Department of
Parks and Recreation plans to start enforcing, after Labor Day, its
"No Nudity" policy at San Onofre State Beach.

Another issue we nudists face is who do we ask to go with us to a nude
beach or nudist resort. One solution is to check out My Naturist
Friend. You just might find the nudist friend you're looking for.

Hi guys(gals),
Me and my girlfriend plan to go out the South Padre Island on Sunday, April 12th.(about 10 miles north of Entrance #6 in South Padre Island) to enjoy our first trip to the nude beach. We have been talking about it for a while and we are finally going out and enjoying this. We are nervous, but really want to do it. She is the one that pushed me to finally go out there and take her to the nude beach and try it.

Grand Lido - Negril - Had a nice time at the clothing optional beach at Grand Lido Negril, Jamaica over the holidays. Bloody Bay is absolutely beautiful. Thought the beach itself was smallish it is secluded, shady when hot and has it's own bar, small pool and hot tub to relax in.

Hawaii - It's along the Waianae Coast called Kaneana Cave area. We think it might be called Makua Beach. Here is just a little iformation for your readers. First as your going north on Farrington Hwy, It wil turn from two (2) Lanes into just one lane.Then you'll go past normal houseing and even some high rise apts on your left side, Then once past the houseing area will come the "homeless" area which goes for several miles, You'll see a "Big" ruff but part paved parking lot on the left side of hwy. The big cave will be accross the Hwy, Park clostest to the concrete barrer which has "RED" paint on it! Through there is a path which can bearly be seen, (USE FOOTWEAR!) slippers will do! Follow it down the hill, turn left and stay on path where there is an old rusted car! The path will take you along a fence about 100 yards, you'll see the path go down steap to the beach area. Although we have been there only twice so far, It seems to be a gay beach, which I don't mind and they didn't seem to mind us!

Haulover Nude Beach - To give our comments some perspective, I might tell you that I have had experience with Nude Beaches in Europe (Germany, Denmark, Sweden and France) over many years. My wife and I have also been members of Glen Eden Sun Club in California and enjoyed San Onofre (South of San Clemente State Park) and Black’s Beach (north of San Diego) on a regular basis when living in Costa Mesa. In Colorado we were members of Valley View (a nudist facility in the mountains of the San Luis Valley) and also visited Desert Reef, a small nudist club near Penrose.

First, a few words about ACCESS to the beach. The general directions of how to get to the area are very good, but new visitors might use a few tips: First, the parking lots for the beaches – including “Textile Beach” which is “clothing mandatory”- are located to the WEST side of the A-1-A which at that point is also know as “Collins Avenue.” This is apparent from the map that is attached to directions one can get from the internet, but there are no road signs to confirm this. We missed the North Parking Lot and did not know that one can also use the “Boat Ramp” Entrance, so ended up somewhat south of the beach on Parking Lot #1. The beach is accessed by several tunnels, and the parking attendant directed us to tunnel #3. After getting on to the beach right next to the Lifeguard Headquarters, which is clothing mandatory at that point, we had to turn north and cross a picket fence to reach the nude part of the beach. The walk from the parking lot took about fifteen minutes, not a great deal for active people, but it can be uncomfortable for those who carry a lot of beach gear (chairs, ice chests, travel bags, etc.) and are exposed to 100 degrees temperatures. The lesson: Park on the North Lot, take only a light load (backpacks seem to be popular) and take it easy!

Considering the walk from the far south parking lot to the nude beach in San Onofre, which takes at least 20 minutes, or negotiating the steep cliffs going down to Black’s Beach, access to Haulover is not difficult if one knows where to park.

Our time on HAULOVER BEACH was enjoyable and memorable. After arriving at the beach at 11:00 a.m. from Naples (a two hour drive) our first experience was an informative chat with a friendly guy. After he confirmed that we were going to be there at 3:00 p.m. he asked us to add our names to a list he was collecting in celebration of National Nude Recreation Week for the Guinness Book of World Records. As we continued walking down the beach, we noticed the huge crowds. The central part of the beach consisted of a colorful display of beach umbrellas covering the area “wall to wall.” We also quickly observed that men outnumbered women at least ten to one, with a few individual girls and couples arriving later in the afternoon. There was no evidence of young families. When I asked a beach attendant about this phenomenon, he told us that we were on a “mixed” part of the beach, and that the “gay” beach was actually located on the north end. Much to my wife’s delight, who enjoys interracial relationships, there were numerous black men all around us!

We found most of the people approachable, friendly, and ready to converse. Ease and relaxation accelerated a mood of well-being one rarely finds in other public places. Because Haulover is recognized by the authorities as a nude beach, one does not feel defensive or worried about being expelled. It struck us that Haulover Beach is an ideal place for introducing family and friends who do not understand the benefits of nudism, or who never had an opportunity to practice it in a safe and comfortable setting.

The weather was hot and sunny, with choppy ocean waves and lukewarm seawater refreshing body and soul. We found the sand as somewhat coarser and shallower than on the Gulf Beaches, and mounting a beach umbrella seemed a bit problematic for some folk who were assisted doing so by a helpful guy using a mallet to penetrate the ground. A lemonade stand nearby offers snacks and drinks: E.g., $5.00 for hot dogs, $4.00 for frozen drinks.
We enjoyed seven hours in this wonderful place before reluctantly returning home. We plan to visit Haulover Beach once a month in future.

Finally, how do we rate this unique and enjoyable place on a scale of 1 to 10? For our first visit, I would give it an 8, followed with an enthusiastic 9 by Sofia. We both agreed that our next visit, with closer parking and less gear to carry under a hot sun, would probably turn our vote into a solid “TEN!”

Okracoke Island, NC - Isolated, generally quiet - except in the highest part of the tourist season. If you park by the side of the road and head on a trail through the dunes near the northwest end of the island, you can find seclusion and enjoy a quiet and clothing free day. Just keep a towel nearby on weekends as the rangers drive through, but you can see them a long ways off. Enjoy!

Hidden Beach, Cancun - Well, I guess you could say that our favorite nude beach covers both the beach and resort categories. We are speaking about Hidden Beach about an hour south of Cancun. Located at the end of a half-mile long private road, cut through virgin jungle, it is completely isolated. There are only 42 suites, so it is not overwhelming like so many of the huge resorts in Cancun. The beach itself is a little rocky at the water's edge, but the sand is white, soft and clean (no ciggy butts). If you don't want to experience the sand, use one of the thatched palapas, these elevated platforms have translucent curtains for privacy, but you can relax, because the management DOES NOT tolerate overt sexual activities. They are nice about it and will say something like "take it to the room, folks", but it provides newbies and those of us not into exhibitionism the assurance that we will not be offended.
You will also enjoy the spotlessly clean pool, and the lazy river winding its way through the property, all the way to the au naturel bar. By the way, the resort is all-inclusive, and the food is great. The menu has special items every night, including pate de foie gras, spiny lobster, steak and yummy desserts (getting the picture?) The barkeeps are very friendly, and will prepare your favorite beverage(s) with flair. Don't be afraid to experiment, maybe with a "Dirty Monkey" or "Sex on the Beach". Of course, there's always Dos Equis. This is a great resort for adults (no kids), experiencing the nudist lifestyle for the first time. No hassles, calm, private, small enough to afford the opportunity to get to know your fellow guests.We recommend you try it. Beach Girl and Desert Boy

Black's Beach - I have just returned from my first two extraordinary days at Black's Beach. What incredible freedom! I am so hooked. I live in fresno and would love to learn about naturist opportunities near me. I have never felt so relaxed and happy. I have a high stress job and even with "regular vactions" never manage to completely unwind. But not anymore. The "equality" and friendliness of you wonderful people who enjoy true freedom has made me "born-again" I am married and hope that I will be able to talk my wife into joining me. She is thinking about it, especially after seeing what it has done for me .. not the mention I look great with my all-over tan .. so she told me ;-)

Creek Beach/Paradise Cove, Lake tahoe, Nevada - On hwy. 50, look for the small parking lot of the road, short hike (1 mile) down to the beaches, absolutely beautiful! The crystal clear waters of the lake, clean sand and the intense sun (elevation above 6K ft.) makes for the perfect combination without the sticky salt wind effect ocean beaches have. True Paradise, sanctioned by the Nevada forest service.

Montalivet-les-Bains, France - One of the best is in France. We visited and strolled onto the Euronat area. Here there were upwards of 10,000 naturists of all ages. Mainly French, Germany and Dutch, this is a family beach and has many children from babes to teenagers and extended families attend. The beach stretches for many kilometers with the naturist parts around 5km. You can park near Euronat (the naturist resort) and walk onto the beach. It is possible to walk from Euronat on the nude beach right along through the textile areas (nudity is accepted on most beaches in France) along to the CHM naturist resort at the other end of the beach. Very safe with few gawkers or other 'types' The sea is cooler than the south and the wave can get rough but lifeguards are on hand.

Cap D'agde in the South of France - There is a whole town constructed around 4000 apartments for Naturists, with shops, banks etc. You do not have to stay in Cap D'agde and can visit by walking along the textile beach from Marseillian Plage. The beach runs for about 3km. There are mainly couples, but the initial part of the beach is mainly attended by the gay community. This beach is less suitable for families. 70% of females are fully shaven and about 30% of males. There is also a number of people wearing genital jewellery. The beach is separated from the textile area at one end by a seas break and I observed many young people from the textile side climbing over to view the naturists at that end. The end closer to Marseillian is better, but large numbers of textiles do stroll the length of the nude beach to view the natives. I also saw sexual acts taking place on the beach towards the back close to the campsite, in full view of everyone and at 4pm in the afternoon. Crowds gathered around to egg on the participants and cheering at the height of success! This area is best avoided if easily offended or you have kids. Very liberal and you need an open mind. The sand is great and the water is shallow, warm and calm. A great place despite the seedier side.

Danny Beach at Goa, India- Here at a persoanl resort of a friend Gayetri, we can stay naked. We recently had a young couple with us and had great fun. They were naked in public for the first time and boy was pretty shy. His wife initiated him to be naked and we all had great fun.

Skiathos - Banana Beach and Little Banana
There is a small footpath leading off the car park at Koukounaries beach. Cross a stile and take the footpath to the first beach. This is Banana beach with 50% textile and 50% fully nude. Quite a lot of families and young children here. There are water sports and a beach bar. When we visited there were a few hundred people, with the naturists tending to cluster at either end. You can clamber over the rocks, or continue on the original footpath to the next beach which is Little Banana. this is about 1km and caters for fully nude. One end tends to have the gay community and there was some sex activity happening in the woods behind the beach.

During the afternoon, the beach is visited by sightseeing boats! These come as close as possible to the beach to allow the passengers to photograph the natives! I was lying on a lilo on the sea and suddenly found myself 10 feet from snapping cameras.

Great sand and many families in residence, ranging from 12 to 60. Sea is very warm, shallow and calm.

Johnsons Beach, Florida - just past the florida Alabama line on 182 on the Florida side. Turn right just before the Reef bar. Park and walk about a mile down the beach. Lagoon on one side Gulf on the other. Not legal, but very popular for nudist.

Long Point Ontario in Canada- My favorite beach though It's an unofficial nude beach, but has been around for 60 odd years. It's little known, but for the 30 odd people that regularly go there, it is heaven on earth!

Little Beach - Maui

Little Beach, aka Little Makena, is considered by many to one of the top ten places in the world for swimming naked. Here's a report from a first time visitor:

"My wife and I recently visited Little Makena beach in Maui. The last morning there we decided to take a chance on finding it. i had gotten directions off the Internet before we left the states . As it turned out we had no trouble. We turned into Makena state park, which is a pretty beach too,and adjoining that beach is little Makena beach. Off to the right is a huge outcropping of rock. We had to climb over that rock to get to little beach. being senior citizens it was quite arduous but was worth when we got to the top and gazed down on gorgeous little beach. it was the first time at a nude beach for us but after spreading our blanket we lost no time stripping . My wife surprised me but she almost beat me nude. it was wonderful.We walked down to the water and started wading. Now we are seniors and our bodies are no longer in the best of shape but we didn't care. We just enjoyed ourselves being nude. The beach is small and there were only 30 or 40 people there. Most were lying or sitting around naked. We did see a few with swim suits on. Our only regret was we didn't have enough time before we flew back to Honolulu to really enjoy the beach and being nude. The hot sun the sand and the breezes on our nude bodies were delicious. Since we`ve been home, I`ve been on the Internet to find nude beaches here in Florida. We got a taste of being nude out in the open air and we want more of the same. what an experience!"

Playing Naked in Paradise

We're on the Big Island of Hawaii staying at the clothing optional lodge of Hangin Loose. When you're in paradise, you ought to be able to run naked. Unfortunately, you can't run naked at 99.9% of the resorts in Hawaii. Hangin Loose is the exception. Of course, if you want to wear clothes, you can. It's choice at Hangin Loose. Over the next ten days we'll be writing about our experiences here.
